Planting: Plant rhizomes in rich muddy soil at the pond edge or in shallow water up to 6 inches deep. Constantly wet soil or shallow water. A beautiful native wetland plant with glossy heart-shaped leaves. It spreads slowly and provides shelter for amphibians and aquatic insects. This plant is sold bare root. Good for margins, ponds, or bogs. Thrives in both full sun and deep shade. Once established, there is little maintenance required, only occasionally needing dead or yellowed leaves snipped.
